The quiet before the storm. Leaving Lake Louise was the beginning of a recovery period before the final preparations and travel to Europe and onto Sochi. This last week coming up will be focused on intensity. Including the Kananaskis Ski Marathon- or the Cookie Race on February 22nd. It’ll be great to take part in this long-standing tradition of Cross Country skiing in Alberta. And to do so as one of the last training opportunities I have before leaving Canada. I’m sure glad it is warmer over the past few days then when we started the camp in Mt. Shark. It feels great to be skiing on fast snow, and especially in the coming days when I want to go fast. Watching today’s action from the Laura Cross Country ski & Biathlon Centre was a great exercise in visualizing my race course. Watching the skiers ski along much of the same course I do. As I watched I’m going through what I want to be doing as I go through that corner, when I switch techniques on this uphill or how hard I want to work over this section. The great thing about having the Olympic Games first. Looking forward to tomorrow’s Biathlon the Men’s Mass Start. Three Canadian Men will be on the start line, should be an interesting race!
