A beautiful day for a long ski in Lake Louise. The temperature was perfect, barely a breathe of wind (well at least in the trees there wasn’t) and skiing on freshly groomed trails after 10cm of new snow overnight. It was so peaceful I was greeted by a pure white rabbit that popped onto the trail, then he/she even hopped towards me before dashing away through the woods. I took that as a good omen. The whole workout was really enjoyable. Everything outside seemed so tranquil, almost surreal. Yesterday was an easier training day, but it was as busy as any day for me. Right from early morning I was out on the Lake filming with Rick Mercer and his crew for a segment on the Rick Mercer Report. It was a lot fun teaching Rick how to ski and about the sport. Right off the Lake I went to the Canadian Paralympic Team announcement for Cross Country skiing and Biathlon. Making it all official, I will to going to Sochi for my second Paralympic Games. I was fortunate enough to get some down time in the early afternoon. Then Rick Mercer and I met up once again to film another segment. In this segment we… I’m not going to share, you will just have to watch RMR to find out what we got up to. I will say that that was one of the most memorable days I’ve had. It was a blast hanging out with Rick and the rest of his staff. Also a thanks to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise for allowing us to nearly turn the entire hotel upside down. Tomorrow it is back to Canmore where it looks to have turned sub-tropical after the deep-freeze of the past two weeks.
